The bank of a water crossing was compromised during the winter/spring rains. This collapse of the bank was putting the approaches to the water crossing at risk. Both the approaches and the bottom of the crossing are lined with pavers.
We decided to build a retaining wall the length of the bank as it follows the trail tread down to the bottom of the water crossing. We used 2x8 deck boards that were left in that area. Big rocks and a mixture of clay and road base were used as fill between the wall and the bank.
Will need to return to finish hammering the post further into the ground and cut them off even with the trail tread.
I would like to spread some grass seed in that area to help retain the soil.
I will also need to go out with a B sawyer to cut a downed tree from the creek to keep it from interfering with the flow of water. That cut material will be used to help fill in the washed out area.
A couple loose pavers in the bottom of the crossing also need to be reset.
