Got our first shoes on for the season this morning. We got a late start, but afterwards Kaylena and I headed up to the rocky side of Sundance and rode E. Fork. Things went a bit awry when I noticed a loaded 380 handgun on the horse camp road with no one around. I called the Forest Service local office and requested they send someone over to take custody of the gun, after I unloaded it, but the girl said they didn't have any police Rangers nearby so she suggested I call the local sheriff. I locked the gun in my truck and we went for our ride. On our return to the parking lot, I called the sheriff's office and told them what was up and they agreed to meet me in 30 min, my expected time back to the trailhead.
