I like doing hikes counterclockwise, but sadly both these were done clockwise and in hindsight I wish I would’ve done them counterclockwise…
The brown Creek Trail, Rhododendron Trail from the road back out to the road definitely would’ve been more enjoyable cause it would’ve been a slow steady climb going counterclockwise

Did one hike then drove up to do the next hike but didn’t have enough space on rambler to make them two separate hikes 🤪
First hike was Karl Knapp Memorial Trail to big tree and then back to visitor center
Second hike rhododendron Trail to Brown Creek Trail back to road 1 way
Also note that the Rhododendron Trail has a lot of switchbacks climbing and can be very narrow in spots, climbing under trees over trees and walking across trees
