I summited Black Peak on Oct 5 with a group of 8 Chinese friends. This climbing trip was organized by Yimin Wu and joined by Hanchuan Peng, Tian Xu, Cheryl Qi, Feihua Yang and myself. We met Zehua Wei and Xiang Wang at Lewis Lake. They joined us for the Wing Lake and then the summit push. It turned out to be a very enjoyable climb for all of us. Quick trip stats: Start time: 7:40 am Round trip distance: 11.7 miles Total elevation gain: 5,245 ft Total time: 11 hours 42 minutes Route conditions: The weather was perfect, clear and cool. The trail was in great condition. The scramble route was easy to follow. The light rain/snow in previous day suppressed the dusts and actually bounded the scree. The exposed class 3/4 crux section just below the summit was a little bit icy but manageable. We protected it with a short hand-line.
