Brienzer Rothorn

Drove in late Night and had the Parking Lot at Sörenberg to myself. Didn’t get started well after the Construction Workers arrived and several other Parties. The Cable Car is closed at the Moment for Maintenance. The Road is easy to follow and starts gently toward the Mountains before it get steep and several Switchbacks later I arrived at the Saddle or Col between Rothorn and Arnihaagen. I totally underestimated how much Elevation gain it is and was really tired at the Col with no Water or Food. Needless to say it was Torture to drag myself up to Rothorn where many People await already. No such thing as Peace and quiet at the Summit thanks to the Steam Train which comes up from the other Side at Brienz. Took a long rest and nap before making up my mind as to continue with my Day. Luckily the Restaurant at the Steam Train Station was open and I got something to Eat and a Liter of Ice Tea later I felt like myself again. Schongütsch is just above the Restaurant and I could not resist getting up there. Finally I got my Peace and Serenity of the Mountains as I had the Summit to myself. Nice Cross and the same Great views as from Rothorn just a short distance away. On my way back I refilled one more time at the Restaurant and re-ascent Rothorn to pick up my Jacket which I forgot earlier. It’s a Zoo up there now with many People on the Summit. I left quickly and went down the nice Trail to the Saddle and followed the Trail up to Arnihaaggen which has a couple of steeper Cable Protected Sections but no issue at all. Summit Cross and a Register with Great views awaited me. Had the Peak also to myself. I was in no rush at all now since I was so far behind schedule and any plans I had for the Afternoon was out of reach. Luckily I made this Three Peaks today and I was pleased after my Morning Struggle. Returned the same way back to the Saddle and followed the Road down to the Parking Lot.
