1/12/25 - Lassen Volcanic National Park Diamond Peak Attempt 6.5 miles

9:15am - arrived Lassen Volcanic National Park 9:30am - Ready after preparation and going to Visitor Center 9:40am - Heading out from Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center after chatting with ranger. Mill Creek Falls was not recommended. Forest Lake, Ridge Lake, and hiking on the Park Road were the most popular winter routes per the ranger. Therefore, decided to hike or walk along Park Road and return at any time or attempt Diamond Peak if it makes sense 11:40am - Chatted with one group of 5 skiers from Bay Area with their plan to go farther. Was struggling if following them with the hope to take videos of their ski or attempting Diamond Peak which will be challenging due to windy day. 12:05 - Decided to attempt Diamond Peak attempt 3 miles at about 7500ft with less than 0.5 miles and 500ft 13:00 - Turning back in about 0.1 mil and ~ 100 at 3.3 miles 7810ft per Gaia as encountered one icy slope of about 10ft at ~7859ft which was too hard to get solid or stable footage. Also,it seems not safe in 2 more options. Surprised to experience snow wind during Diamond Peak attempt and took our time to watch as first time, exciting experience as sandy wind experienced in Utah Edmaier's Secret on 12/27/24. 13:18 - Down from Diamond Peak attempt to 3 miles point after 3.53 miles. Therefore, almost 1 hour 20 minutes for 0.53 mile. 14:50 - Back to parking lot at 6.5 miles after 5 hours 10 minutes. Heading to Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge for snow geese and sunset watching. Arrived at 4:50 with about 15 minutes to Sunset. Thousands of snow geese, but, only landed or took off slowly and at some distance. No surprise sunset lighting
